Oh fuck, I made it guys. I’m famous even though as usual Bricken is wrong. :P
Guess my year-long online D&D campaign is a unicorn. I feel special!
Said it before on the site, but the DnD episodes of Community convinced my wife and two friends to enthusiastically try DnD. I think people you know are your best bet, and you need to be able to DM the group. 5th edition is really, really easy to learn as well and plays smoothly so it is great for complete RPG newbs.
Bit of advice I can give, although this tends to help more if you have a group already that is short on players.
Im just thinking how great it would be to have an all LARP tv channel....
other groups are more about migrating from dungeon to dungeon like a boardgame tactical challenge, with a LOT of fighting but little character development or interaction
I’m out. :(
My current group is actually made up of io9 commenters and a few players I know on Twitter. We play exclusively online and it works great for the dynamic of our group.
I’m just really surprised that D&D is still around. When I last played was between about 1977 and 1980 with a group of neighbor kids. We got our parents to buy some of the books of monsters, took turns being dungeon master, drawing dungeons on graph paper and making up stories. From this post, it looks like maybe now…
Online play can be good, and work really well with some of the tools we have now (roll20, etc), BUT.
Hmm.
just wait till young Bruce starts making explosives out of fertilizer.
Isn’t withdrawing their seeds while the war is still ongoing a bit like taking money out of the bank while you’re still being mugged?
Good job humanity. Another notch on the ole’ belt.
Since you are the only one discussing Gotham, did you get a Suicide Squad vibe out of the jail break at the end of the episode?
Also, ROM and the rest of the Spaceknights (and Dire Wraiths)... actually, they deserve their own movie.
Jerome isn’t going to be the Joker. My bet is he’ll be killed off before the season or series ends. He’s another fake-out — but who may inspire, influence one among several who will one day be the Joker. But we’ll never know who. That’s the way it should be for the Joker’s origins.
As Edward Snowden recently pointed out, any advanced civilization is going to encrypt its data so it would appear as background noise unless you know what you’re looking for and how to decrypt it
