I don’t think this is that unlikely or dumb. First, lots of newly forming societies did do this. Which is why Charlemagne was Holy Roman Emperor and why Russia had a Czar (Caesar) and why America has a Senate. Second, if the first members of a post-apocalyptic human race had education in their pre-apocalyptic days…

If I remember correctly there was a theory in the early 1900s that the current human race is the decedents of three distinct groups. I think its been debunked now.
