1977 at summer camp, I was 10 and one of the counselors asked if we knew what D&D was. Nobody did, but with the escapism of Star Wars fresh in our heads we were willing to give it a try. I played a Fighter with a strength of 14 and when I finished the summer at third level I thought I was a badass. As soon as I got

I could almost say that role playing games saved my life.

Some of us don’t have much of a choice when it comes to the potatoes:

Battletech. It’s not an RPG (this wasn’t Mechwarrior), but I remember a kid in elementary school bringing the rulebook to school and seeing all these awesome pictures of giant robots and was totally in. I pestered my parents to take me to the gaming store at the not-close mall and had them buy me my first box set,

If you want my RPG origin story, it’s even more amusing. In the summer of 1977, my brother and I kept hearing our friends in the church youth group talk about this “D&D” game, but wouldn’t give us any details — only saying, just you wait! This was before either one of us had read Lord of the Rings or any fantasy book.

A friend got me into RPGs through AD&D over Christmas break during our freshman year in college. Later, I wanted to get the books, but they were too expensive, but a new boxed from TSR called Star Frontiers was in my price range. It was OK, but I thought it was sort of dumb.

I’d seen the little black books with

I started dating this guy. A couple of dates in, he told me he couldn’t do anything that night because he was playing Vampire.

What got me into role-playing games was when my friend asked me if I wanted to spend the weekend at his house playing with RPGs and I thought he was talking about these:

For me it was really Dragon Age Origins which got me fully branded as an RPG player. I'd spent plenty of time in Hyrule searching for heart container and I still love the Zelda games but Dragon Age lead me to Mass Effect which is my favorite series to date.

Mine was with the basic set of Dungeons and Dragons. The old blue book before the hardcover PHB and DMG were even published.

Mine was Final Fantasy VII. Went to a new friend’s house in 1998. Saw he had Final Fantasy VII in the classic style case with the watermarked image on the front. Watched him play it for a bit and got curious. I asked to borrow it...he loaned me least the first disk cause he was on the second disk and wanted to play

Agreed. I can’t find anyone who cares A. for a Gambit movie (he’s really not that interesting to begin with) or B. for a Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum.

I still don’t understand why my post is still pending approval.

Also new, official Jessica Jones photos. WHY NO NOVEMBER NOW?

That Gambit news tho.... I’m so sorry mon ami.

Isn’t Gambit one of the dumb 90’s X-men that nobody gives a shit about anymore?

People keep saying Daisy’s costume is the same as Black Widow’s, but it’s not:

Gambit

In other news: You can tell this guy (Bernthal) loves his new job...
