Seriously. I really didn't like this episode just because I could not give a good goddamn about that storyarc. (For me, Riverdale's a tug-of-war between the smart dialogue and intriguing murder mystery versus teen soap bullshit that's just like watching paint dry.)

For me, a lot of it didn't come together, especially the part with Jimmy—I couldn't quite figure out his role in the story other than just to be an additional dick. I think if they'd pruned the episode a little bit and filled out a few other aspects (like Mickey's room, maybe?) it'd have worked. But to me it just sort

Yeah, exactly—space is CHEAP. Honestly non-notability is kind of dodgy anyway. I can see not having articles for every rando's shitty band, but there's lots of times I've been "waaat, why isn't there an article on this" to find out there was one, but deleted for 'non-notability'.

I just asked the AV Club on twitter, and John Chernin liked it. (Which makes me feel bad, because I wanted to bitch about this week's episode because I didn't like it much, but hey.)

the entire strip is worth checking out. it gets… odder.

My theory on her personality is from how she's so willing to sacrifice herself—i.e. with the Jasper fusion—that basically she no longer cares about her own life, so she doesn't really care about others. Sort of like the opposite intonation of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt line "you have to not care whether you live or

That didn't bother me—she's a Gem, but she's pretty clearly the backup squad. The "true" gems are the four originals. Sorta like how the assistant manager becomes the manager for the day if the manager's out.

Yeah—pretty sure this is the explanation. Peridot's a younger gem so she can't; Pearl just usually chooses not to.

"oh shit! ow…ow..ow..ow…ow…ow…"

I really don't like Archie's story so far, partly because Archie's just a generic sorta audience-identifying kinda guy… and Archie's main defining personality characteristic is that he's happy-go-lucky, but since Riverdale's not exactly a happy-go-lucky kinda show, so Archie's not got much other than his hair that's

He got FIFTEEN WHOLE DAYS, hasn't he suffered enough?

it's why Dennis may be bastard man but he is our bastard man

I was talking about that with someone, how in the beginning Dennis was my least favorite because it just seemed like he should 'know better'. Like, he's a creep, but he's a reasonably intelligent (not SMART but, you know, relatively together). But when you get deeper in the series and realize just how broken and

honestly, if they'd gone the more homemade route (which I think would have improved this one), having Charlie do the subtitles would be hilarious. I'd imagine it would basically just be a mix of clip art, emoji and Zapf Dingbats

I dunno, I like Bill, but Maureen's sort of "oh." I kind of also like the hateful Ponderosa children.
