Yeah — I was really surprised at how sweet that was.  Very few shows could pull something like that off and have it feel genuine and earned.  Awesome.

I kinda liked the "how deep is your love" callback, even if the original joke was kinda clumsily handled.  But I just noticed how… retread-a-riffic it was.  With the suit that ended up unravelling which was basically the Chanel Suit episode, plus Moe's whole Suicide Thing (which just ends up as kinda creepy rather

…wait, first Scott, Tasha, Keith and Genevieve leave, and NOW THEY'RE TURNING SAM ADAMS INTO BEER?!  NUUUUUUUUU!!!

YES! I was just completely overjoyed with the Trumpy joke. Because I love Pod People. That's one of my favorite eps.

I cheered when the frog flipped himself over!

POOTS!

That is true!  There should be a show that's just DFW references.

Also, Beck's Sexx Laws video (which is a bit more blatant in its homage).

It's really weird — there's been kind of a critical re-appraisal of it.  When I wrote my review back in 2007:

It was about the only positive review I could find on the entire Internet.  And I read a lot of 'em.
But since Criterion put it out in an Eclipse set, it seems that it's done a lot

Bob Burgess?  I love that show!

Um, yeah, but Stan didn't slap the shit out of the guy from My Morning Jackoff.  That's why Bob's Burgers rules.

Actually in the case of Amy Winehouse's dad, I don't think he COULD say no. Covers are under compulsory licenses, so assuming Beyonce went to Harry Fox, she's good. Mr. Winehouse doesn't get to say tickety boo.

Yay — I thought I was the only one who found Children's Hospital super-duper overrated.

For reals — I did an interview with Dave Hughes, creator of "Off The Air" for Adult Swim (and who does a lot of the inhouse ads and edits some of the shows and whatnot) and asked him about this:

YES!  That is one of the best shows AS has done in a while.  (There also needs to be more Off The Air)

Back in the early nineties, I had a copy of Simpsons Illustrated (the tie-in magazine because of course they had a tie-in magazine) that actually plugged The Yellow Album in its letters column.  (The proposed cover though, was just, well, a square of Simpson-Yellow, which, well, makes the title make sense.)

Aw, I'm surprised no one mentioned the "I went to art school!" gag.  I loved that one.

I'm just surprised no one's done a "gooby pls" joke.
