This woman was in jail for a week because she couldn't scratch up $1000 bond. Hardly a flight risk. And three weeks is an important time in the breastfeeding relationship. A three week old baby nurses practically around the clock at that age for a few days (at least both of mine did). It's a growth spurt time.

I don't see how it isn't a medical issue for the mother. Stopping breast feeding cold turkey puts the mother at risk for clogged milk ducts which can rapidly become mastitis, a pretty debilitating infection of the milk ducts. Imagine the worst flu you ever had, plus excruciating pain in your breast.

Looks like she went in on a contempt charge for a traffic violation—like failure to appear. Which might have happened because she had just delivered a baby.

Yeah, we just had some empathy for a mother of a newborn who is in jail for only a week.

Is the infant in jail too? Please, explain to us all why the baby should be punished.

Interestingly, not everyone who gets arrested is guilty. She was there in contempt of court, but I don't see why that punishment needs to be passed on to her child. Even for those who are guilty of whatever they are jailed for, does that punishment have to extend to the extra expense of formula and the digestive

The thing is, if you don't like jokey/sarcastic headlines and articles, Gawkerverse is really not for you. This site has always handled very serious things in an irreverent manner (see the "rape rape" tag for another example), and it's hardly going to stop because you think it's inappropriate. If you don't like humor

So glad (though of course that's the wrong word) that you brought this up.

There is a time and a place for what you're saying, but it is not here.

When my husband and I decided to have children, we dealt with a year long battle with fertility. While we were trying to figure out whether we would be able to have a biological child (A very personal decision, and one that I'm pretty sick of being judged for) I did a lot of research on adoption, both within the

I grew up in a pretty rural area, and there was one family who adopted kids from Korea. Knowing the family, I have actually heard many of these things said to/about them (with the exception of the special needs stuff, because their children do not have htem).

I think you may have missed the point.

As an adoptee, I think it's great that this mom is giving her children the power to take these hurtful words and acknowledge them as hurtful. Hopefully, this will facilitate some healing.
My parents told me to deal with hurtful comments like this by ignoring them and not responding. Which (along with many other

You mean the one from the banners all over this site?

Didn't you guys have a billion sponsored posts from this show before it aired?

I mean, she could have been referring to "bottomless brunches," that famous meal where we eat waffles without pants. It's seminude spectacle that's all the rage in Brooklyn lately. (In my apartment.)

And even if that's why, isn't that just responsible? I guess you could call being responsible "growing up fast," but ... actually, why am I trying to have a reasonable conversation with a tabloid? Let me just enjoy Miley's future boyfriend lineup.

I think it was on Jezebel, but they had an interview with Kim and she said she went to her mom and told Kris that she was getting serious with her boyfriend and thought that she should go on birth control just in case they decide to have sex. And the responses were, isn't that what you want your 14 year old daughter

I'm sorry, but how is going on birth control at 14 a bad thing? ... I know lots of girls who had their PEDIATRICIANS recommend it to their parents to regulate crazy cramps that kept them out of school.
