Wasn't the discussion primarily about an increase in trafficking during the Super Bowl? And how even most of the advocacy groups say it's a damaging myth? This is a terrible story but I don't think it invalidates those discussions, and sometimes the "common sense" test fails.

This reminds me of my cat who used to steal straws out of every drink that came into the house. He had to pull them out himself... He enjoyed the hunt. :) Made quite a mess several times. Poor thing died suddenly of a heart condition.

Having written a lot of these... Definitely ask professors who have written them before. Once I had written one letter for a student it was super easy to modify it to fit another circumstance. Be sure to write a thank you note and update the professor about how things went.
