My guess is that it’s down to the purpose of the Restrictions menu, which is for parents to restrict what their kids can do on their iPhone. Podcasts and News have the potential to allow access to a broad selection of content that may not be kid-friendly, while Weather, Stocks and other Apple-supplied apps do not.

To each his own. That was one of the reasons I use SwiftKey. To me, it’s a no-brainer that the keyboard should show what you’re actually typing.
