Not saying we should stop pretending, however, the further we move away from “innocent until proven guilty”, the more we as society, move away from being reasonable/just. It would become a fear based knee jerk reaction, like the witch hunt. Someone gets called a witch, they get burned.

See, this is a valid point. This should have gone to the police, not Twitter. Women ARE raped and men ARE falsely accused. It’s really that simple.
