This game needs to do better, because people are investing other resources in being able to play it. If I go somewhere to find Pokemon and then the server crashes and I can’t play, that’s a lot worse than trying to log onto a game at home and finding the server is down.

As a Pokemon Go apologist myself, please don’t fool yourself. The launch has been absolute shit with people unable to log in for almost an entire weekend. No other server-based game I’ve ever played has denied a large portion of its playerbase the ability to play for entire days with nothing more than a “we’re working

I’m very happy you’re having a pleasant experience, but neither me nor any of my friends are currently playing a good functioning properly working game. The game crashes ALL THE TIME, my phone freezes if i switch battery saver on(post update, preupdate worked fine), i have the three step glitch as well, i can’t log in

Just because it’s no more broken than similar online games doesn’t mean it isn’t broken.

If this is considered a “pretty average” launch, then our standards for games have plummeted to unacceptable levels.

Server complaints aside, no other online game has forced me to reinstall as much as this one does. The game is full of glitches.

NONE of the game’s core mechanics work as they are supposed to. Tracking down pokemon nearby? Completely broken. Catching pokemon? Pokeball freeze glitch. Challenging gyms? First it was the 1HP glitch, then the not being able to challenge after 3-2-1 glitch, and also the fact that every time I clear out a gym, someone

This launch has been awful, and most of it could have been avoided. Niantic had no announced date to deliver this game to anyone, and they should have stopped rolling it out after it hit the US and things went to hell. Adding another 30+ countries after the US without address the server issues was a terrible, terrible

Dude its been god awful. What are you even talking about. I love the game but Diablo 3 launched better than this, and that is really saying something.

No, this had been pretty terrible. The difference between this and other games is that people travel for this game. If I head out some place and the servers take a shit, I now have traveled for no reason and must adjust. With every other game, I sit on my ass and if it doesn’t work, I’m out nothing.

It has been terrible. I couldn’t even keep a secure connection for the first 3-4 days. I’ve had the app freeze up dozens of times while trying to capture a Pokemon and now every single Pokemon is 3 steps away.

The problem is that a) They had Ingress and a beta test, so they should have been able to at least plan for some more of this and had better stability and b) they charge for items that are real-time based, so if you use one and the game crashes, well you are out of luck.

Their beta test was also pretty sad. It didn’t

The game experience itself is terrible. But since a lot of Pokemon Go lives outside of the actual app itself (the people you meet, the places you go), the experience itself can still be enjoyable. Obviously there are REASONS why the launch has happened the way it has, but if I am going to be honest in my reporting

Well it is a very simple game in terms of how you can actually play it so even breaking “small” parts of it significantly reduce functionality, hence the perception of terrible launch is not unreasonable.
