I agree that the market there is starting to turn after going up 200-500% the last 10 years. I think there is a continuously growing backlog problem amongst gamers, but I think the real turn here is the aging of the CRT TV is finally catching up to retro collectors - there’s likely just less and less room and interest

iRacing has long had professional racers moonlighting there and is about as close as you get with the right setup. You’re going to miss out on some things, but it’s a closer translation than other activities.

This is certainly a controversial one by the responses, but it really worked for me.

Now playing

My headcanon remains the Indoctrination Theory ending

For some reason the powder puff team I coached refused to acknowledge my coaching genius when I tried to deter them from passing, but I am finally proven correct in my fundamental understanding of football.

I think our problem was that we always had 5 hours and it took 7. Which made for a very frustrating conclusion!

All I remember about the first one from 12 years ago was that I was excited to play it and then it turned into a never-ending dice nightmare that did not scale up to our 6-8 player group. Never got around to trying it again after we tried it a couple different nights and didn’t get close to finishing.

Turning off win conditions is its own problem. I am frankly kind of tired of Civ’s arbitrary win mechanisms as opposed to just enjoying the politics and diplomacy and growth, but the game mechanics are so centralized around the win conditions that it makes the game much more hollow than it needs to be.

The only White Mage that matters. This comic had a heckuva run and knew how to end things.

I honestly did not expect an article to have to accompany this headline, but here we are I guess.

Still have Civ 2 over in the corner. And man I loved me some Silent Service from time to time.

Dang at first I was kind of bummed, thinking someone was going to Atari the brand name, but your last line is spot-on, and the original founder is involved too. Will have to keep an eye on them!

True, in my mind I was explicitly excluding the Day Zero patch from the 99.9% haha.

I mean, no, probably not. If I were them I would’ve pulled the trigger even faster, I can’t imagine the game isn’t 99.9% done at this point.

The first time I played the glitch sequence I was completely zoned in alone in my basement at 1 AM trying to figure out where the heck the game was going and what was going on. It was one of the most unique and memorable gaming moments in my life. I’ll always love this game for that stretch alone where you’re just

Just started up Civ V again a couple weekends ago. Such a satisfying game. VI is still plenty good, but it’s hard to live up to that.

I love me some CivRev on the DS, can pop it out every year and knock out 3 Deity games in a few days, and walk away very satisfied. They nailed Civ-lite, though the 360 version played way too slow compared to its iPad and DS equivalents.

I’m with you. II improved everything about I. III added as many frustrations as new concepts. But all three are firmly behind the later 3, which I guess is a good thing overall.

Let me get this out of the way - I won’t ever click on a non-Civ slideshow again. Ugh.

And Kingdom Hearts has been trending the wrong way for awhile, as someone who really enjoyed the games for a long time. They could not have done a more stale integration with the various Disney properties if they had tried.
