My wife experienced similar anxiety when she would drive our 83-mile range Fiat 500e from Newport Beach to DTLA or Century City. She had free charging at her DT work garage and $1/hr via Chargepoint at Century City. She’d get to the office with 12-20 miles remaining but a few times she’d be in the single digits. She

Good. I never understood consumers who are brand-loyal or the Stans/fanbois, unless the manufacturer is paying them money. I’m more of a Janet Jackson-like consumer…what have you done for me lately? My wife and I serious when we say that we wish our first Tesla will be out last Tesla; we want competition to catch up

Boy, these dumb statements are why people hate lawyers. Yes, the lawyers job is to best represent their client’s interest with the facts that are given but that’s just a shitty thing to do.

We got a Fiat 500e, Tesla S85, Silverado Duramax, and an old MK4 TDI. One neighbor has a Tesla Y and our other neighbor has a Honda Pilot and Audi e-Tron CUV (looks like a Q5 or Q7). The latter of which is just about the least efficient EV you can buy but it’s sure nice to ride in. It gets 2mi/kWh compared to 5mi/kWh

Ridiculous. This is why we can’t have nice things. Too much unaccountable individuality and a lack of respect for things as well as other people.

My wife had a 2 mile commute when she started her career in Irvine. She got fired and started a new opportunity in Downtown LA that allowed her to both work remotely and see the inner workings of how a boutique law firm operates. She went from her high school Integra to an Rx400h, and then an off-lease Fiat 500e with

Haha. That’s what my wife calls our 2013 Model S. She thinks it looked like a Panamera at some angles…and at times can look like a Kia Optima!

I’d have to have like $5M laying around before I considered buy a Lucid strictly because there are so many things I prioritize over the car. I already bought a used 2013 Model S85 for under $40K back before Tesla decided to nerf It’s Supercharging curve, Vmax, range, and power output. Still the car is a great

If I were in charge of AP/FSD design, I would have put in a backup redundancy system that would use big data from other vehicles that have driven those roads and lanes to determine driver input behaviors. This would point out anomalies and can expose road hazards such as construction zones, potholes, frequent

That’s very generous of GM. I would have done something like a $6K credit towards the future purchase of another GM vehicle or EV charging credit…cuz it really doesn’t cost them $6K.

Balloon loans are the worst concept for Americans. The enticement of getting something immediately while neglecting austerity in the future gets people offsides. Let’s face it, the average person does not understand how credit/debt, repayment of principal with interest, and the hope of productivity growth works. We’re

Generally articles such as these promote an impractical sterile mindset about food. The reality is that there’s a degree of acceptable filth in our food. Imagine how expensive food would be if it were all perfect or sterilized. The acceptable yield would be so small and we’d have a incredibly small food supply.

Counterpoint on motion smoothing:

Yeah I’ve washed my caps in the front-loader with about 8lbs of other clothes plenty of times with zero noticeable consequences.  I place my caps in a delicates bag as to make sure I hang dry it rather than mistakenly place it in the dryer with the rest of the clothes.

Not to brag but I’ve never had a car payment in my life…I simply bought cars that people no longer wanted. 3 times, I’ve taken one-way flights to buy the car out-of-state to get a better price due to the car not being popular in those regions. For instance, I went out of state to buy a used 2001 VW Golf TDI because

Seems to me that the issue isn’t so much the manufacturer but the vintage. Yeah you can cite Tesla, uConnect, the Ford-Microsoft thing, etc, but things were a whole lot less complex with infortainment systems between 1988-2006. After that everyone seemed to go their own way with a non-intuitive layout that takes weeks

My first car was my parent’s 1989 Mazda 626 DX 5-speed. We kept the car through 2007 and after 200K miles on the original clutch, brakes, and motor, we donated it to my old high school so their driving education program could have a manny tranny.

I’ve taken cheap one-way flights from Orange County, Ca to Phoenix, Az to buy a used 2001 VW Golf TDI from a private party (he even picked me up from the airport) and to buy a used 2013 Tesla Model S 85 (so I could register it for solo-HOV lane access in Ca). I also hitched a ride with a buddy going to Scottsdale to

A few things:

There’s a lot of lithium out there but where it can be mined without horrible implications is the bigger challenge. However I wouldn’t be surprised if Li is replaced in the next decade. There’s pressure to develop batteries and motors without rare earth materials.   Time will tell I suppose.
