It’s not a weird creepy brand trying to seep into your mind- it’s someone who does this for a living and just wants to have fun with it. 

You’re not wrong but that doesn’t make it suck any less. The creativity of these people are being wasted on nonsense.

Okay, seriously, this is a Bioware game?

Man, thats gonna be one gorgeous looking boring ass game.

I was really hoping it wouldn’t be another Destiny/Warframe wannabe. Screw multiplayer co-op stuff. I want single player RPG’s. I want some Bioware in my Bioware games!

Sounds like Jennifer Hale and she’s great. Also, sounds like they were going for the ominous teaser trailer and not much more currently. Wait till you see more before you bash her?

Awesome to see new IP’s! Too many sequels and prequels these days.

Why should they or the original developer have to explicitly state that is not a reference to the infamous local terrorist group when the ready alternative is to either change the joke that something that fits our remove a throw-away joke that doesn’t translate out of Japan?

It’s not censorship though. The context of the original joke had nothing to do with racism, and the translation team confirmed with the original developer to avoid censoring content that may have been intentionally considered.

Seriously. Might as well use Google Translate, so that we can keep every word exactly the same with no context whatsoever.

Doesn’t seem that dumb if the creators didn’t originally intend to reference the Ku Klux Klan with their parody of NHK. Something like DEF(to parody ABC) would work better.

Well, the original developer did call it “KKK Witches”. They just didn’t mean to be making a reference to the KKK so the joke took on a different meaning in the US than it did in Japan.

But he was the one who made the joke. The Japanese did not make the joke involving the KKK, the translator did. They’re saying “no, you can’t make that joke based on your interpretation of the translation.”

“I wanted to make a statement,” localization specialist Tom Lipschultz wrote in an e-mail. “I don’t think it’s right to make any change, no matter how minor, for the purpose of ‘sanitizing’ a game.”

This sounds less like censorship and more like a translator taking liberties that he happens to find funny. And then getting upset when other people didn’t agree with him.

Well at least the weebs will have something different to cry about other than molesting/undressing/romancing underage anime girls.
