I would add (hilariously) though, that my husband (doctor) was so thoroughly tested that they even checked for tobacco. They want their employes to epitomize healthy living.
Ah, that's what I just posted further down. While I don't find that necessarily fair, either, I also think it's funny WHICH jobs get drug tested.
In response to the people who always say they must be drug tested to get a job, I've always been astounded by how many drug tests I took for retail, and how I have taken a total of zero for my actual, professional career (I'm a college professor).
"Rep. Trey Radel voted for Republican legislation that would allow states to make food stamp recipients pee in cups to prove they're not on drugs. In October, police busted the Florida Republican on a charge of cocaine possession."
"That's 37 people who should not be receiving taxpayer subsidies, because they are not behaving as they are supposed to," said state Rep. Glen Casada, a Republican from Franklin. "If the taxpayers are going to support you there are certain criteria you need to adhere to. This is a good use of taxpayer money."
Everybody poops; why freak out over the equipment of the person pooping in the stall next to you? It's an excellent example of how, under the right's veneer of tough-minded, steely-eyed realism is pure terrified chickenshittery.
"Sexual predators will take advantage of this to watch women shower, because that is what I would do. Also, I'm a terrible human being." -Florida Republican State Rep. Frank Artiles
I graded for my mother sometimes when she taught physics/chemistry and unless you want to fail 50+% of your students you need to award points for attempting problems and methodology on math problems.
Harassment wasn't charged. There is a difference between widely interpreting an act to make it fit the crime charged and convicting someone of a crime they weren't charged with. The crimes he was charged with are simply not open to "interpretation"- they have required elements that are not present in this case. Is it…
Uhm...and why is that more likely, exactly?
... how do you misgrade math tests? It's... it's math! Math isn't subjective.
I know the judge in this case and he hates that he had to make this decision. But it is consistent with the laws on the books right now - which were enacted before cellphones with cameras existed. However, my understanding is that there is a bill being introduced this legislative session to fix this issue so the…
This is madness! And it genuinely sounds as if the guards/prison staff involved are getting something hinky out of it, either from the powerplay or from getting to see THE VAGINA OF SOMEONE'S FECKING GRANDMOTHER ffs.
The most insulting part of this is that I have to supply my own love interest.
That the book is obviously about Loving v Virginia-a civil rights case on interracial marriage- is the icing on the cake.
To those people:
Heres the thing that I don't understand, how hardwired does racism have to be in your brain for you to not think to look at peoples body language. It's pretty obvious to me when people are talking to someone they don't want to be talking to.
Despite a flashbang grenade, a grandmother was able to instantly regain her senses and go on the offensive.
You are falsely correlating things. People can be (very, very rarely) falsely convicted based on the faulty memory of a person. That has nothing to do with statute of limitations. That is true of a crime that occurred (or was misremembered) yesterday.
