Because back in the 1990s no one gave a shit about gay people and gave even less shit about trans people, especially “authority” figures. Why is this hard for you?

How do you know what will happen? You can tell the future? That’s funny because this has never happened before. Why do weird people always assume that heterosexist macho men only needed trans rights as an excuse to dress up in girl clothes and rape cis women?

Of the numerous straight “lifestyles” out there, one involves erasing LGBT people from existence. Another one involves demonizing and bullying LGBT people, with no mercy. And yet another involves your type of low energy homophobia, the one where being a gay person automatically involves some sort of immersion in one

She feels that gay people are of less value than straight people. Her heart may feel whatever it needs to feel in the practice of her religion but as an inspiring figure for people to listen to, she fails - hard. I’m so glad her brand of low energy homophobia isn’t the kind that does physical harm to gay people - she

You still don’t get it. The people that say “I don’t agree with the LGBT lifestyle” are not talking about a website. They are talking about *all* gay people as having made the *choice* to be sexually attracted to the same sex.

You edited brunch out of your comment which originally stated “just brunch on a saturday afternoon”

Does it? If faced in the voter booth with an antigay law, I’m sure Porch would vote against the lives of gay people and would say “my choice, live and let live.” It isn’t essentially the same thing btw.

I’m also black. My father is black. I’m also gay. I know what I’m talking about. Excuse me, but yes, gay people face still face extreme hate in this country and around the world. This is not the Opression Olympics, but to blithely railroad over the bigotry and heterosexism that gay people do face on a daily basis is

It’s analogous though. Bigotry based on sexual orientation comes from the same ignorant mentality that racism comes from. Also there are varying levels of homophobia like racism - and they also share similarities in that they faced/face certain institutional roadblocks.

But she didn’t specifically say “she doesn’t support the marginalization of LGBT individuals” - which is what you said about her.

My coworker hates black people but I’ve seen him be friendly with black people all the time.......

Brunch is now considered a gay lifestyle if gay people have brunch but when straight people have brunch it’s not indicative of a straight lifestyle? I’m sorry that I called you humorless, you are right, name calling from me is unnecessary and I’m sorry for that

And their lifestyles would be the same as someone of a different sexual orientation. Gay and straight people share similar lifestyles. The continual insistence to frame homosexuality as a lifestyle while neglecting to do the same for heterosexuality says a lot about a society. The fact is that no sexual orientation is

By saying that gay lives are up to disagree with or agree with - she is being disrespectful. How she was brought up was to be *specifically* negative about LGBT lives, which means her opinion is biased and not based in fact. Should she know better? Probably.

**but at least she doesn’t support the marginalization of LGBT individuals**

That’s not a lifestyle. Why do gay people have lifestyles but straight people have - lives???

It’s a parade you humorless bigot. Also MARDI GRAS

Prove we are all white because I’m not.

Being gay is not a lifestyle and her “respect” is not respect. If you can’t accept someone else merely for whom they love - then it’s actually an antisocial behavior. Yes her opinion is hers but it’s not fact or logical.

That “gay lifestyle” that you are referring to was born from the fact that many gay men and women in the *20th century* chose to live in neighborhoods that were *friendly* to gay lives. Do you know why they had to do this? Their “lifestyle” was actually community because of massive bigotry and violence against them.
