What exactly does it say about me that I did in fact click on this story, knowing I would have to look at multiple horrible close-ups that made me gag, and am still commenting on it?
The bigger-is-better mentality has created a counterreaction, and there are now smaller, very profitable studios like Blumhouse (Split, Get Out) and A24 (Moonlight) making smaller movies and even the big studios are still making movies like Hidden Figures and Fences, they just don’t make as many as they used to…
[MILD spoiler] The end of the film is pretty bloody and I admit I looked away a couple times but it wasn’t buckets of blood pouring out of the sky etc etc. It was contextual and appropriate for an action film. But that’s it! The rest of the film is more about psychological tension than on-screen amputations and…
Yup! Almost all of the violence (and all of the gore) is confined to the third act. There’s maybe only 10-15 minutes of truly violent content in the whole movie. It’s pretty safe for horror movie wimps (a group I’m definitely a part of!). I saw it at a noon matinee thinking I might need a full day to decompress…
Hopefully this will bring Hollywood back to focusing on smaller budget films. We’ve had way too many big budget blockbuster movies overshadowing smaller films for nearly a decade. Also there’s no need to spend $300 million making a movie when they could just spend $1-5 million on a movie with a good story and a damn…
I really want him to make these.
I saw this movie this past weekend. It really works on so many levels - besides being a racial commentary piece, it also has hilarious comedy moments, touching personal dramatic ones, as well as the body-horror/psychological horror aspect. It’s pretty rare to see a single movie succeed so well in so many facets.
good. we need them.
I read that he already has three or four “social horror” films he would like to work on! I can’t even imagine...
Go see it if you haven’t! It’s not too gory/gross and there’s only a few startle moments. It has some funny parts but it is not a comedy like his previous work.
Excellent news, both for Jordan Peele and for fans of new kinds of horror movies. If Peele has another dream project after this, he’ll probably get the support for it now.
It is adding to the commute though. I used to have to deal with this at an offramp on RT128 in MA. People would always hop in front of the big truck like this. At the end, there was a stop sign, not a light, a sign and anyone who needed to take a left would routinely take about 30-45 sec to make it across if they were…
That dickbag forcing his way in after the part where the highway engineers had lines painted on the road that said “don’t merge here, asshole” causes a ripple back through the line that causes me to be late to work an hour after he did it, because people had to brake for him to fit in and the chain reaction has begun.
This isn’t a zipper maneuver. Zipper is when you’re in a lane that’s disappearing. You should keep your lane until it fully disappears and merge into the other line at that point.
I wish they would do this to the people on my commute home EVERY SINGLE DAY. Not only do they cut the whole line, but they run up the center lane then sometiems literally stop in it trying to merge. I’ve had several near misses where I’d be following a truck of SUV that would swerve when one nailed their brakes and…
correct way to merge, but dont cut a long line of cars to do it. That exit ramp had a line already formed way back at the start of the video. He skipped the entire line because “mr important was running late”
Like the majority of people I’m sure, I hate cancer. However, having personally known two women who have died from Ovarian Cancer, may I give this type an especially hearty ‘Fuck You’? (Along with Multiple Myeloma...not enough ‘fuck you’ for that one.)
