Military traditions are forever? Even when the military structure itself isn't forever? Sure, I COULD see all the Martian Marines saying "NEVER CALL ME SOLDIER" and then looking at each other stupidly when asked why because "soldiers" haven't existed in 5 generations. Or I could see them…not doing that.

Oh please let's not get this started again. If you really want to get into it there's an extensive thread a week or two back about it.

Except half of you Expanse book readers are saying the show's better, whereas I don't think I know one person with that informed opinion on GoT :P

I'm just gonna drop this note here because I had to pick somewhere:

The budget isn't necessarily slashed, they just allocated it in a certain way. Some episodes call for a large environment, others not so much. If you recall season 1 it was actually similar, with many stage-setting scenes on Ceres, the Donnager, etc, but then they start investigating leads that take them to more out

Or perhaps it is you who need some hearing recalibration, as well as some condescension filters replaced, and irony detectors tuned up.

I enjoyed Alex stuck in the Roci (ew) but all the "talking to the computer" scenes started to feel very exposition-y and forced. But then…Alex thinks of himself and her as "we" now? Payoff. So worth it.

The thing I really appreciated about it was even with all that, she STILL was going to let Martian maneuvering have its way with her and get on that shuttle, until Avasarala very cleverly arranged to give her a little…more…time…to make a real decision and change her fate.

There's also the fact of the physical environment she was in. There was no Brazil for her to run to. It was either get sent to jail (or just get spaced) via Martian shuttle, or turn yourself in to Earth border guards. At which point she's going to end up in Avasarala's office whether she would've planned it that way

Actually I've been thinking about her height a lot since someone called her short a few weeks ago, and someone else corrected her with a sourced claim of her being around 6 feet. Wikipedia actually says 5'11". Which is still pretty tall, but I have to say the camerawork hasn't really shown that off a lot. I can

Goddamn, are you the first one to mention the Arbogast? Yes. Well done! I almost forgot about that, which is a shame because Scientist Guy and Navy Guy bonding over Magellan and dragons to pull out an ominous victory was just fucking delightful.

I'd say more than occasional haha, but as @nop666:disqus says there are regional accents all over the place. I was thinking about the fight choreography too, it seemed really solid except for the last bit where she shoved the guard into the wall. Didn't feel like that had enough force to it to KO him like that. Still

Yeah I wouldn't say she's in love with Earth, just totally betrayed by Mars at the moment and probably feeling like Earth will help her see through her "Martian" ideals more than her own people right now. But overall agree - like you said almost too much motivation, like geez show you really had to make this

I could live with him being a knight templar on that, I'm just a little tired of the "wounded guest character speaks last words, then dies 5 seconds later" trope. You couldn't like, tie her up/let her rot for a couple minutes, THEN see her flop over in the background?

"Why am I always the one getti-" *BOOM* bye Amos :(

Yes but if you're making a case for a metaphor to a group of internet nerds, it's best not to use an example from your own homebrew :P

HOLY SHIT I'm not the only one. Okay. I was trying to pin it down after that grenade scene. Then I imagined reading in the adventure guide "if the party stays in room C, 3 rounds later any Drow who escaped will return with a Rod of Fireballs…" It all came together then.

Part of the fun of the slingshot maneuver is there's nothing new whatsoever about it, it's pure basic physics. It's just how fast can you do the math and how many variables can it cover so you don't screw up (neither of which the Roci had any trouble with). This is not a case where new algorithms can help you, they

Really? It terrifies me. A show with that reputation sounds like one in constant fear of executive "cost cutting" :(

Exactly. I was actually surprised this was the part he was disappointed by because I felt like Bobbi was only barely keeping herself from flipping in the middle of the testimony 2 episodes ago. She's a proud idealist patriot who just saw all her patriotic ideals shattered in…well, I can't quite keep track of time
