I felt awful for all four of the non-Jennings by the end of that scene (plus the drive home, for Tuan). They are all clearly pathological; Tuan and Daddy Morozov dealing with old country trauma in different ways, Little Morozov clinically depressed by new country trauma, and Mommy Morozov just trying not to get torn

And also, very little she could see in that greenhouse that would not confirm her beliefs even if it doesn't actually mean what she thinks it means!

@stuartsaysstop:disqus @avclub-146bc30c345d31f3468fec764a1970e1:disqus Fucking hell now I'ma be terrified for Paige every time she's on screen all season.

I said this above but Matthew is a doughy mid-20s big-headed dude, while Paige is a petite teenager playing a high school sophomore. They are just the wrong shape and size for each other haha.

Would've been more thematic last season with the bioweapon storyline :)

Happens with kids a lot. Cirroc Lofton was in the Deep Space Nine main cast every season but appeared in less than half the episodes, while a recurring non-speaking role had more episodes than he did :)

It's basically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Train your brain to associate a sensation with calming to fight uncontrollable anxiety. It's not necessarily losing your humanity, any more than someone with an anxiety disorder is losing their humanity by meditating/taking medication/etc.

Last time I assumed he basically trained to be an agent in Vietnam, or maybe came over as a child with Russian handlers. Now it turns out he's been in the US legitimately for years - definitely weird. I guess he was old enough to hold onto his trauma and anger through that time.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with this "only uncorrupted agency", personally.

I'm actually constantly creeped out by Paige & Matthew, physically. She is a petite individual who's still a teenager and playing even more still a teenager, whereas Matthew has a giant head (sorry Danny Flaherty) and is in his mid 20s. It's not that there's anything actually wrong with their ages as either characters

I think we'll have to let this one develop. Remember the Reagan episode when they were convinced there was going to be a coup or The Colonel where the big leak was "yeah there's not really a viable missile shield program."

I was also disturbed by his attitude toward the Russian kid this week. He hates the dad for loving America and hates the kid for hating America so much he gets depressed. So much anger. I felt bad for him, clearly just a kid himself.

Oh man, didn't catch that double meaning, nice.

I was surprised Philip would openly express faith in American honor, too, especially in front of his boss. It basically set up me being confused about this storyline the whole episode :)

Okay, thank you! I was super confused what this was about all episode and when I saw one dead crop of wheat with no bugs and one green but buzzing crop I thought "okay, bad pesticides". Then I come on here and everyone's all "evil bug army", damn!

So I guess he's over Martha then!

They genuinely should work out a cover story about Paige learning self-defense because she got harassed on the street or something - it would satisfy Stan's curiosity about her not feeling quite right and also explain why her arms will no longer be 2 inches thick in a few months.

What was that punching bag made of, anyway?

Yeah I was waiting for the more convincing, pragmatic argument than just "he's such a good guy!", which is "if every decent Russian in Soviet intelligence hears that the Americans harassed an informant to the point where he was caught an executed, do you think they'll be MORE or LESS likely to get in bed with us when

"She's usually here by now…wait a sec, how come I've never seen you and her in the same room??"
