Yeah that twist didn't actually occur to me, I was assuming that "every plot with the actual main characters is totally mundane for maximum juxtaposition" was kind of the point but there could certainly be room for that. As long as the reaction is "welp, that just happened", of course.

I came in prepared to hate Vanessa Hudgens for stealing what was clearly Danny's show, but she is too bland so far. I'm waiting for her to either commit to staying bland forever or develop a personality before I start the hate for real.

From what I saw I have no grounds to decide if she's awful or great. She's playing a chipper newcomer in a heightened world. I'd like to see them write her some actual character traits, then we'll see how awful she really is.
