I would have loved a home ec class like that. Ours did not include any financial/budgeting info. We did one quarter of shop class, one quarter of "cooking" (making chocolate-chip muffins from a mix), one quarter of sewing, and one quarter of mechanical drawing. I have no idea how that last one was supposed to help us

Not every teacher is an underpaid public employee. The teachers in our local districts make double the average household income for this area, and many of them retire making well into the $90K range. I think they deserve every penny, but not every district pays peanuts.

I really wish we had some kind of financial literacy education when I was in school (I graduated in '99). My parents are excellent savers and have no debt. They also paid off their mortgage early. You'd think they'd be great teachers. Unfortunately, their financial lesson to me was "Don't spend any money." They also

Thanks for letting me know what to expect. Although I had an X-ray the other day to see if the stone had moved, and now the doctor can't see it. So it *may* have been a misdiagnosis, except I am still getting stabbing pains in my flank area.

So it really hurt, huh? I have one now. The urologist told me when I pass it, I'll feel intense pain and probably vomit. But did he prescribe any pain killers for me to take when it happens? No.

WIC used to be on checks here, and the program is very specific as to what you can get, so we'd have people come in to the store, get something that wasn't allowed, and then have to tell them that it wasn't allowed under the WIC rules.

I hope to God this promo includes their soft pretzel app with the cheese dipping sauce. I know it's not real food, but it's SO GOOD.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I noticed you live in NM, and I am moving there next year. Please tell me I haven't made a horrible decision. They lured me in with the "300+ days of sunshine, great for allergies, low humidity" schtick, but am I going to regret this?

You would love FullHouseReviewed.com then. The author reviewed every episode as an adult; most of the posts contain scathing comments about the attitudes of the kids.

Thank the Wilton machine for that. Their class buttercream recipe uses shortening. It's like eating a stick of grease. I stick with buttercream or do a fluffy white frosting with egg whites and Karo syrup — yum!

Holy crap. You could buy 5 b. of sugar, 5 lb. of flour, a can of cocoa, and all the ingredients you need for about $15 and make dozens and dozens of cupcakes!

Fondant is disgusting!

I have such a hard time icing a cake. I'm a decent baker, and I even took a cake decorating class, but I have horrible manual dexterity and trouble gripping things (I'm in my early 30s, but I have arthritis). I can never get the crumb coat right or get a nice smooth finish on the icing.

I'm just telling you from my experience. I took high-dose (white) vitamin C tablets trying to prevent myself from getting sick. I got terrible diarrhea from it, some of which had an orange tint.

We feed our cats a pretty expensive food, but it's considered "below average" by many pet sites. I asked my vet about it, and she said there are people who feed their cats nothing but $3 kibble, and those cats live to be 15 or 20 years old. She also pointed out that three of our four were strays who would still be

Try Cold Turkey. You decide which sites you want to block, so you can still access research sites. I have mine set to block FB, Jezebel, Gawker, local news sites, etc. between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Don't worry. The guy's name is actually Dillard. So she's Jill Dillard now. If you click the link, you will see a picture of their new "The Dillards" picnic basket. Blech.

If you take a high dose of vitamin C for a few days, you will shit orange. Trust me.

I'm curious as to whether they are talking about a tumor marker test. Those tests are often unreliable because they produce false positives and false negatives. It sounds like this woman didn't understand the consent forms and didn't ask questions to clarify. I had an ovarian cyst removed, but I was told beforehand

That amount of money ($1,700) is just ridiculous. Honestly, I would have said no the second I found out it would cost so much. You can buy a dress at David's for $150 or less and then give your friend a $50 gift and not have to go into debt. People who think they deserve hen parties and wedding weekends and all sorts
