I don't think it's stupid to pull tobacco, but it's disingenuous. They're not doing it because they care; they're doing it because they will get something out of it.

You don't need an ISBN for an e-book. Why would you need a distributor when you can distribute a book yourself?

You don't need an ISBN to publish on Smashwords or Kindle. Is there a benefit to having one if you're only selling e-books and not print copies?
