I mentioned it a while back, but it comes down to us spending an entire generation teaching people that “racism” is wrong, not the actual acts you commit to be a racist. Same thing with fascism. People know that the term is a bad word, and react to it as an insult with no consideration for what it actually means.…

It matters when people give credit to these companies, when we celebrate these companies for doing the right thing. It goes to show we are deluding ourselves when we do this. That putting our expectations on companies being catalysts for political change is a dead end.

One Supreme Court case stated that corporations have a legal responsibility to their shareholders. But that in no way, shape, or form is directly related to “maxmiz[ing] profits.”

Blizzard is showing a logic that is all-too-common among companies: any demonstration of principle or ideology has to pass a marketing test. Any definitive stance takes into consideration what their audience is and what they hope to accomplish.
