What if $3,180,001 was donated by one person and the rest was donated by 119,999 people? Your math doesn't exactly line up with the reasoning you're putting forth 

I'd say 1% of the time it's because they have a legit scoop and want to stay anonymous. 99% of the time it is for trolling.
