Thank you.  So much this. If a handful of media outlets would get the backbone to speak honestly, the world would be a better place.

Thank God someone else has an IQ above  "Twitter rage"

While I agree that there needs to be more nuance and depth in regards to the middle east in media and gaming- there also needs to be less apologists for middle eastern/ extremist Muslim belief and organizations like Hamas, etc that lead them.

If the arab community didn’t attack Israelis/Western society then they wouldn’t be targets for games, movies, and other media. Until they learn to be peaceful, like their religion tells them to do, they’ll continue to be outcasts.

You do realize the arabs are ALWAYS the enemy. If you get rid of the Arabs, the Israelis dont counter-attack, the Americans don’t invade, people don’t get KO’d in war, and all is right in the world. The arab community needs to focus on stopping radicalization against the West and propagation of war against those who

I’m honestly a little flabbergasted that somebody could talk about the state of turn-based RPGs in 2017 and not even mention Dragon Quest XI.

The beady-eyed headlights, the utter blankness of its fascia, the jowly flabbiness of its proportions...yup, I’d say the “stylist” was paying homage to Putin’s favorite bitch:

Perhaps if Muslims don’t like how they are pictured, then perhaps they should address the world they live in.

Wow, over 3000 words of a one sided biased article that is just full of lies and reeks of antisemitism and hatred towards Israel.

2002 called, they would love to talk to you about towers, planes, terrorists and they keep yammering about an axis of evil.

It’s nice to see this pointed out..... but boy oh boy its a bit late for this sentiment. It should have told you something when the only war related game set in the middle east that anyone ever

Or perhaps it’s the genocide and the bombing and the breaking of treaties and the terrorism on both sides that’s creating the narrative.  Just a thought.

If a game uses a real country or a real setting, they get shit for doing that, see Six Days in Fallujah or Ghost Recon Wildlands. If they include politics, they also get shit for that when the authors of stories like this believe that the politics of the game don’t match their own (which happens rather quickly if the

Next article gonna be about how fighting games unfairly depict athletic physiques?

There are MANY issues with the article already outlined by other members so I won’t bother. But the “Israeli soldier cosplaying a CoD character” link is such a huge reach that I’m not surprised the image itself wasn’t included in the article. It’s a guy wearing a skull face balaclava. Probably the most common print on

If you think no recent conflict comes close, then you do not pay attention to what is going on in the world. Myanmar, South Sudan, are magnitudes larger in civilian deathtolls, and very much recent. And those are just off the top of the head.

you might wanna check you facts. Israel has specifically said they will eliminate Hamas. I have never read or heard of any reference where an Israeli official said they wanted to kill Palestinians specifically just to kill Palestinians.

Shhh! That doesn’t fit the author’s narrative/personal bias.

lol. 85% of global terrorist events are done by.... arab, arab muslims. If arabs don’t like it, maybe just get over it. Everyone knows the middle east is a a mess.

this was my biggest issue when reading this. Everyone can have their opinions, but Hamas is straight up a terrorist organization that was elected as the ruling body in Gaza—thus splitting from the West Bank’s PA ruling body.

I know Alyssa is a hack, but to describe Hamas as merely a ‘militant’ organization is either ignorance of its status as the democratically-elected ruling political party in Gaza *or* a purposeful spin to somehow separate Gazans from the actions of *their* government.
