I saw the Cats road show maybe 30 years ago. I didn’t love it, actually didn’t really even get it. So I had no reason to expect to like this.

Thank you for sharing your parents’ perspectives. For what it’s worth, I would encourage you to find a way to record and share their stories, as horrible as they were, as a reminder of the consequences of war.
Perfect place for one of my favorite Clarkson quotes, about a Lexus which he was about to destroy with a machine gun:
Yeah, though I think I’ll always be a little bit on the fence on that one....
Yeah - it was a tough read for sure.
Not sure they actually ever launched flea/tick balloons, though they did try incendiery bombs. But the truth may be stranger, and more horrific:
Exactly. I’m curious to see how that Monorail is holding up after a few more years of racoons, mice, insects, mold, etc.
You want to be,
As someone who had a neighbor who loved to rev his fartcan hatchback and his sportbike down the street at all hours, I agree. Though I also think there should be allowances for stock performance cars. There is a difference in the “quality” of the sound... one makes me happy, the other just pisses me off. But maybe…
I have no idea what Salvage I was, but you get a star for the Starlog reference
Sure, and as someone who usually watches movies at home, I don’t disagree. But, it’s for the Academy to decide whether promoting theater distribution of non-blockbuster films is part of the purpose of their annual self-congratulation event. Spielberg is a blockbuster king, but he seems to be of the opinion that…
Good point. But then, if Netflix is in fact playing by the same rules as other production companies, then his proposed requirements aren’t unfairly targeting Netflix.
The point was about minimum requirements for theater showings, not about “blaming others about making me buy Netflix".
I don’t see the problem. He takes the stand that movies are competing for screen time in a competitive market (movie theaters), and that the awards should go to those filmmakers and studios who manage to put out worthwhile films in that market. Netflix has set up its own streaming service, and is gaming the system…
Your friend must also hate Marvel, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Matrix, or pretty much any sci-fi or fantasy...
Yep, that moment pulled me right out of TFA, in much the same way that pretty much all of JJ’s ST reboot pulled me out of Trek. Thankfully, Discovery pulled me back in.
No kidding, NT4? I had some old SAN controllers which ran Win95 under the hood (and they’re probably still running, though I’m no longer there). Only solution in some of those cases is just to keep them firewalled off from the world, I’m afraid.
Exactly - you may have replied to the wrong post, but I concur :)
Duh
I agree: non-hostile aliens hanging out around earth, in our lifetime, is too good a story not to get excited about. Just really, REALLY unlikely. And, even if it were true, what motivation would the government have in releasing these videos, anyway?
