Actually, the “Post Golf” didn’t have these lights, though in German MkI circles, these tail lights were known as “Postleuchten”. As per the below from a German MkI Forum, these tail lights come from the “Nullausstattung” Golf.

The first production car with fuel injection was not the Mercedes Benz 300SL, as widely claimed. It was, in fact, the Gutbrod Superior 700E in 1951.

There still is! But it’s Australian, not German.

I think there was more to that, as another German company at the time sold a small motorbike called the Kreidler Mustang. Kreidler became insolvent in 1982.
