The movie certainly plays with the dynamic, but its clear throughout that Leon is repulsed by her interest and sees her as more of an adopted daughter. The reputation of the movie is more because of American squeamishness then anything that is actually in the film.

Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Thelma and Louise, Black Hawk Down, are 5 great movies. There are some others that I would classify as very good at least. You should try IMDB.

He was right about just about everything and could back up all his talk. Again, if he had clearly won the fight in the movie nobody would be complaining. It is the fact that he lost (maybe) that made him come off as a blowhard.

You can blame youth for both of those things. Young people often, as a sign of immaturity, take on a inauthentic persona. Young people can be manipulated into just about anything. Also, just to point out the obvious, nobody knows if any of this is true.

Hate to rain on everyone’s parade but is there any reason why her statements about anything should be taken at face value? I would be more interested to watch a documentary that is really held to journalistic standards. Its a fascinating subject but I am not just going to take her word on everything.
