That’s Jennifer Beals? From Flashdance? Which came out in 1983.
The first book has a lot of world building. It sets up a lot of the different cultures of the world and the politics between different nations. It’s one of the things I really like about the WoT series. It deals a lot about how the world changes. How different nations deal with the prophecy, the changes in the balance…
There is just something really off about the pacing of the show. I don’t know if it was executive meddling or COVID or the Mat actor leaving unexpectedly. But the way things are set up and paid off is just so uneven.
Kathryn Hahn is Agatha Harkness and Doc Ock.
So, the Quwot Milot are just assholes, right? They're the bestest most skilled warriors in the galaxy but they don't know how to knock people out or use any kind of non-lethal method of disabling their opponents? Heck, they literally could have chopped hands and legs off instead of just murdering people.
I like some of the deviations from the book in episodes 3 and 4. The show’s more grizzled Thom make a stronger impression and the western/country style is more interesting. I like that they’re expanding Logain’s story. I would definitely take this over some of the more meandering/boring plot lines from the books.…
The fight with the aliens starts because Booker, for some reason, brought his cat with him in the ship he and Burnham took to the planet. The aliens don’t understand the concept of pets or metaphor, and take Booker’s comment that Grudge is a “queen” literally.
The showrunner said in an interview that he got thousands of notes from Amazon execs just for the pilot. And that definitely shows.
The theme of the series is that history repeats itself and similar events happen over and over again with some variations between them. The story has familiar elements from other fantasies because those other fantasies may have actually happened in this world in the past and will happen in the future, and the…
I like Blade Runner, but it's a pretty boring movie.
Except my whole point is that the making generic blockbuster movies is not the strategy that made them successful. It wasn’t generic action movies with big movie stars that allowed them to acquire and retain their huge audience, it was shows like Friends, 30 Rock, The Office, Parks & Rec, etc. Why do you think Netflix…
But they’ve been able to make good shows. They just cancel them too soon. And with the money they spend on a big blockbuster movie, they can make several shows, giving them more room to experiment and take risks. Not every sitcom became as popular as Friends or Seinfeld, but sitcoms are cheap to make, at least at the…
Having Eleven get her powers back Carrie style might be too obvious but I don’t think they can resist it.
I enjoyed Eternals quite a bit. But I’m also a big fan of other sci-fi franchises that focus a lot on ancient cosmic aliens manipulating civilizations across the galaxy/universe, like Stargate, Babylon 5, Mass Effect, etc.
I wonder about the sustainability of Netflix burning so much cash to make stuff like this.
Why wouldn’t Ultron being in Vision’s body have power equal to or greater than Thor with Stormbreaker? Ultron specifically built the body out of Vibranium to be a perfect vessel for his consciousness, with the capability to utilize the power of the Mind Stone. Vision was as strong as Thor in the prime universe.…
Thor almost killed Thanos when Thanos had all 6 Infinity Stones. And using Stormbreaker, Thor was able to block a blast with all 6 Infinity Stones so the Infinity Stones don’t make its wielder invulnerable.
They still have that $200 million deal with Netflix.
It’s best not to analyze comic book/sci-fi/fantasy rules too much. They all break under scrutiny.
Maybe the armor is a life support system and if he leaves the armor, he dies.
