I know it’s hard to review a Star Trek show without being influenced by the franchise’s long history. But we also tend to focus on the best episodes of previous Treks. For good reason, the best episodes are the most memorable. But fans have to stop acting like every other episode of Trek was a “Balance of Terror” or

Starfleet endorsed the genocide of the Borg when it wasn’t losing a protracted war.

Yeah, why is she supporting a war criminal?

Michael Bay’s Lobo movie will be set on earth and be about random human characters no one gives a crap about. Lobo will show up at the end to drink some bud light and say “bastich.”

But why is that significant? They made like two Avengers references in Jessica Jones using silly nicknames. They didn’t draw attention to it. It was just some offhanded lines.

They’ve used actual superhero names before. Foggy use Captain America’s name in Daredevil. Cottonmouth called Luke “Harlem’s Captain America.” Iron Man is mentioned in “Bulletproof Love.”

They aren’t changing anything. It was already set up in the first season. They established that a mysterious company called IGH paid all her hospital bills and helped with her adoption.

TNG was during a time when the television landscape was completely different. The highest rated primetime show today gets about 10 million viewers. TNG averaged around 10 million viewers in its first few seasons. But the highest rated primetime show in 1987 had 40 million viewers. All TV ratings have been dropping

It’s a no win situation. Whenever they do something with old races, people complain that it’s been done before. Whenever they try to do something new, people complain about the old races not being in it.

Even with the Klingons being allies, they were still the antagonists in a bunch of episodes. The House of Duras was one of the most prominent and recurrent villains in TNG. Even without Duras, there was always the threat of the peace breaking down and the Klingons going back to being enemies. “Yesterday’s Enterprise”

Is Lady Eve’s job just to do random creepy things? Next episode, she’ll be carving a gnarled ventriloquist doll. Then she’ll be digging up artifacts at a cursed burial ground. Then she’ll be feeding rats to cobras.

It’s easy to make an obviously fake Trump tweet. Just make it coherent and well reasoned.

He must have had a much worse time on “The Wolverine” than we thought.

Did you read my post? Distance and speed cannot be explained away because they made mentions of specific speeds and places. A 1,000 light years in the 23rd century can’t magically become 100 light years in the 24th century. The distance issue is also a violation of the basic premise of a show like DS9, where the whole

All of which is to say, we can at least have a discussion about how this show goes about its business without one of us stomping out of the room. But if you have a credible defense of why in the hell this is all happening before the start of the original series, I’m all ears. The more time goes by, the more

Almost every show might as well be a soft reboot since Star Trek has always been bad with continuity. Voyager shouldn’t exist because ships could already cross the entire galaxy in days in TOS.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: What the hell is Discovery about? Star Trek: Five-year mission to explore the universe. Next Generation: Same remit, without the time limit. Deep Space Nine: What happens if you stay in one place? Voyager: What happens if you get lost? Enterprise: What happens if we go back

Since this is a prequel, young Superman will only be demolishing sand castles, buildings made of Legos, and model cities.

How do you know the Emperor’s ship isn’t captured alien tech or based on captured alien tech?

Except the Enterprise in “Mirror, Mirror” also had a piece of technology far superior to anything in the Prime Federation, the Tantalus field, a device that can monitor Kirk wanted and destroy them without leaving a trace. In fact, the Tantalus field was so powerful that it allowed Spock to take over the Empire and
