When you have a board they can oust you if you fuck up the image of the company or violate company policy. Just because you’re the founder doesn’t mean you own a large share of the company or have voting rights. So it’s not stealing when the board…

It’s not “locking content behind a paywall”, it’s more like wether or not they get the funds to actually pay for the development of the character. They literally had a video breaking down the cost of development of the character:

I know it feels kind of shitty to see these stories and respond with “yup, the guy who seemed pretty iffy was indeed a jerk” but it is, unfortunately, not surprising to hear this news - though I feel terrible for anyone working there. I hope those leaving can do well. 

I initially backed Mike Z. during his slip up involving saying, ‘I can’t breath’ at a Skull Girls tournament as someone who fucked up but acknowledged it. That was one thing, but ever since then via the quickly increasing number of ‘incidents,’ I am firmly planted on the ‘Mike Z Is a Butt’ side of the argument.

Don’t count on it, some of the most abusive assholes are still at Ubisoft, according to a report by Gamasutra. While Guillemot talks a good talk, he and his family refuse to walk the walk -- as long as Guillemot continues to coddle abusers, bad managers, and serial harassers, Ubisoft is still on my shit list.

If he’s the sole owner of the company, he doesn’t have to answer to anybody and therefor has no oversight and can treat his employees like shit with no recourse.

It’s odd that you went straight to assuming someone was trying to steal the company from him, but judging from your other comments you clearly don’t…

I think it was somewhere in the Twitter post by eu03, but they mentioned he was supposed to be temporarily sole owner while some changes were occurring after the previous owner(s) left or something like that, but he never gave up that temporary status

I guess we can add Lab Zero to the list of companies with douchebag owner-creators. They join an illustrious group including, but not limited to, Gearbox and Ubisoft.

i remember at evo a few years ago, the hotel was hosting an elvis convention at the same time. it was really cool talking to older folks in fake pompadours about our separate hobbies in the elevators. nice people.

It’s like when two conventions are scheduled at the same time, so you’ve got the Masquerade LARPers and the Organization of Cardiovascular Surgeons hanging out in the lobby together.  Delightful.
