in his defense, I don’t think he’s smart enough to be Bob Page

It’s so fun to see older developers being real over time. They may be venerated today, but for all intents and purposes they were pretty much just nerds trying to make their day job more interesting.

It’s obviously sharper but the character models lost something in the process. The female characters really got hit hard with the generic anime stick.

That could be the afore-mentioned depth of field filter making the cliffside look blurry.

I was just going to say, it’s lost the painterly Vagrant Story-esque style that made it appeal to me in the first place. It’s obviously technically better now, but artistically it’s way more generic.

Backgrounds have certainly been improved, but the characters...

Better?  Eh, yeah, I guess, but it also looks like every other generic Japanese Anime game.  Like that last image: why not let a girl have an ugly scowl on her face?  No, no, gotta make her look cute and wistful instead.

The new models are definitely cleaner and more detailed, and bring the aesthetic in line with the rest of the series, but I will admit that I’ll miss the “FFXII-ish charm” the old ones had.

Reyn looks almost completely different now.

That’s kind of disappointing. The shift to anime-style kind of makes the characters lose... uh, character? Just generic in general. I always did like the original designs because it reminded me of Vagrant Story’s style. Oh well.

The old graphics had a charm to them, combined with their shouty British voices, I thought they looked kinda rug.

Finished reading and sort of instinctively scrolled down to leave a comment, but I’m not sure why. I can’t think of much to say.

Could be a number of reasons. One of the more probable ones though is that they might just not have been selling enough of them to justify continuing to make them. Alternately they may be planning to release new colours and don’t want to bloat the number of colour options they have currently available, or they’re just

Then you are an extremely irresponsible person and it’s a good thing you don’t make any major decisions for anyone else.

Don't release it in Japan either, where people have also found it annoying!

...What does that even mean!?

If you play with Hawkeye as your main, when she leaves he comments “If only she were ten years older.”

Really? That’s the appropriate response? A gaming blog posts something critical of one of your characters (deservedly btw) and your response would be to just not sell your game to that entire country/continent?

“But they will be worth something someday!!!”

Floppies are overpriced and aesthetically unapelling, but I still enjoy having a bookshelf full of trade paperbacks/hardcovers. I think the monthly paper comicbook doesn’t make sense anymore, they should distribute digitally and lower the pieces, then collect on paper. But that would enrage comic shop owners, and

It’s always struck me as supremely ridiculous that the comics industry is so antiquated in terms of distribution. I’ve been digital only save the few comics I buy in trades since I first got into comics in my early 20s. I truly don’t get why anyone would want a bunch of cheap, flimsy pieces of paper taking up space in
