My 11 year old said “Well not all cops are bad.”
My 11 year old said “Well not all cops are bad.”
I have to say, as a person whose parents are fresh off the boat and who is not part of one of the more popular Christian denominations, this piece is spot on. I have never heard the people of any other (largely) Christian country go on and on about Jesus the way Americans do. The irony being that the true god in this…
People mistake not-actively-bad cops as good. Because nuance is hard for simple minds.
I keep hearing about good cops existing, but they must be an awfully quiet bunch...
“A high school diploma or a GED is required. Prospective recruits must also be at least 21 years old, be a citizen of the United States, have a valid driver’s license, not have any felony convictions, and be willing to work varied shifts. Applicants with misdemeanor convictions will be evaluated on a case-by-case…
For those wondering Police Unions are not real popular around the country. Why you ask? Because for a collection of people that demand respect, unquestioned adulation and adoration they never have the backs of any other union in their city or state. In NYC when The MTA was looking for a new contract the PUBA was…
Tom Cotton is one of the worst RACISTS in the GOP.
The problem is that a lot of people will read it and take it at face value.
“I envision my two grandfathers, who fought for this country during World War II, one in the Army and one in the Marine Corp. Both risking their lives to protect our country and to try to make our country and this world a better place. [And I envision how they came back to the U.S. and were greeted as heroes! To this…
A hard lesson that I’m still learning is you don’t have to engage with the bullshit every minute. It’s ok to step back and take care of yourself. All the horror going on around us is exhausting, depressing, maddening. But we’re not all responsible all the time for fixing all the bad things. Take time to enjoy the good…
It definitely has a cult like feel to it.
I went to a couple local borough council meetings early in the year. Before each meeting everyone says the Pledge of Allegiance like we’re all in elementary school again. Before that I hadn’t said the pledge in probably 20+ years and had forgotten just how damn creepy it is.
“But I think what you do by standing there and showing respect to the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together, we can all do better and that we are all part of the solution.”
The New York Times is garbage and yet so many of my liberal friends swear by it. I don’t click on it and don’t read it. and haven’t since the election.
Where was this pencildick when Y’all Queda was storming government offices with assault rifles? Motherfucker.
This is a very optimistic view of our justice system, a view that is not shared by a lot of the people protesting or supporting the protests.
Many, many people have been arrested (and worse) while peacefully demonstrating. This is what freedom and democracy looks like.
Nah, probably more for about escaping from police custody after you’ve been arrested for kneeling in-front a National Guardsman and asking them to please not murder the black person.
They need to drive that statue south a while and drop it in the Gulf of Mexico. Then white people can go scuba diving and visit it as much as they want.
Is there any way we can organize to send this guy a few thousand dildos, like we did those whacks who took over the bird sanctuary?
