The number of doctors in the US greatly exceeds the number of major league baseball players, so yeah, MLB players have skills and abilities which are in fact rarer than those of doctors.

Given the insane amount of micromanaging and eleventh-hour shooting and editing that went into Rogue One, this really shouldn’t be that surprising. Star Wars is the crown jewel of the Mouse Empire — arguably more so than the “classic” Disney remakes or even the MCU — and Disney isn’t going to take any chances.

I gave up halfway through the third one. These are so incoherent.

I hold two opinions about this. On the one hand, of course someone who has to make life or death decisions or educate/mentor people should make much more money (and have at least as good healthcare) as an athlete or movie star.

I am a teacher and I think we deserve more money. A much higher salary. Should pro athletes make less money? Probably. But I completely understand why successful entertainers/athletes make more money than teachers/doctors, and I am comfortable with it.

If the “average anesthesiologist” made more than any actor, nobody could afford health care.

That’s true, but they also don’t engage in the number of transactions that actors do. The Rock is worth a dollar-something to millions and millions of people per movie, and so makes millions and millions of dollars per movie. An anaesthesiologist doesn’t participate in millions of procedures a year and so for her to…

That’s not how it works. The salary of a film actor is based on how famous they are and how much money the studio thinks the film will make them back. Last time I checked, an anesthesiologist doesn’t bring the hospital 9 figures for 6 months’ work.

And the assholes over at the Minneapolis papers are basically already saying “Well, see, he deserved to get shot.” “Cops have such a hard job, he did the right thing.” “What’s the big deal, it’s not gonna bring Philando back? Stop covering this story.”
