It was very clearly a dick joke but there were a lot of layers to it.

See, I saw it & thought Kesha was the asshole for asking multiple times and advancing on a stranger. Jerry backed up out of frame to move away from her. Geezus, she was incredibly rude and unthinking.

Julia is amazing and has arguably had the most successful career since.

It was only awkward because she ambushed him. And he didn’t know her. And she persisted after being very clearly and openly denied a hug.

I do think her creeping forward after he said no was also Not Cool.

While I’m sure this was awkward, I kind of love that if he didn’t want to hug, he stuck to it. Nobody should have to do that if they don’t want to—that would make a good Seinfeld episode, tho.

I didn’t. People need to stop asking for hugs after they graduate kindergarten. If the other person wants to hug you they will and if they don’t it’s okay, too.
