Absolutely this. Star Wars is just a different Gen-X nostalgia. And as Darth Fabulous states, the “nerds” that always loved it were leading the internet conversations.

I am certain that Lucas had it put into the terms of his sale that the Special Edition Trilogy is the only one that gets to exist now.

I’m now a 100% OT Purist. I have no love for both Prequels and Sequels and I think that the true quality Star Wars trilogy will always be The Original Trilogy especially with TROS having completely screwed up the entire Sequel trilogy.
