Makes me think how much I’d love if the whole world stopped using the word “videogames” to describe what can bring you emotions, reflexions, fun aswell indeed, but mostly a good narrative.”Videogame” sounds way too childish. To the point where I’m kind of complexed whenever I try to describe to random people how many…
Just want to add up to this, I really like your articles Doc, they’re mature, well thought, and there’s an accessable reflexion on different videogame deep subjects inside all of them (story, reasons why X or Y, mechanics, etc). Good read !
What’s wrong with using a popular reference of good game mechanics, to open up a discussion on other games that could use the same attention to gamedesign ?
I just witnessed that yesterday ! Hey that means maybe we can now use the hook to push over a cliff ? xD
Not to sound like some kind of armchair analyst, but I learned to identify how a game would turn expectation into frustration in simple steps :
Speaking of Roadhog, it seems like he received a stealth nerf, where hooking someone will not bring him as close as before. Confirmed ?
Another difference I found between Garrisons and Order Halls : Order Halls have character :) (thanks to warcraft superstars lurking them, specific architecture, backstory evolution, artefact progression, etc)
Let’s admit it guys, Legion visuals are surprisingly stunning :o

Thanks ! On a sidenote, did Capcom also gave back the cover art to the primary school it was stolen from ?
Are people really asking for this ? How close are we from cheering public executions ?
This moment was ... oh my. The grand scheme of things.
If a character scales very highly with player skill, that character will always be a problem. This is because Genji has that mastery “not being a macro” bullshit, but OTHER CHARACTERS DON’T.
Do you know how much timing, positionning and anticipation it takes to reflect an ult .... ? Such skill should be rewarded, mastery is not a macro, or a DLC, it’s a personal effort :)
The teaming up with opposite faction is simple, but just immensely refreshing. We have been pvp’ing, competiting for so long... now seeing your best enemies trash the Legion by your side gives a sudden big sense of pride. Fight for Azeroth, people, it worthes it.
Yup, House of the Dying Sun does get space combat extremely right. I was really pleasantly surprised :)
What I also love with this show is how it sends a subtle punch to everything that went wrong in our society (social medias, economy, consumerism, politics, business, etc). It doesn’t do it very broadly, just a few hints here and there, but they’re always a strong homerun.
I just had the exact same reflexion ! After reading the article I was like ... “Hello, i- if it’s okay ?”
Wh ... what ?
