p.s : "Here is a little gift from me, as a sign of our friendship."

The voice of the second girl ... oh my god ...

DRM means "Digital Rights Management", so we can both understand in this context "a way to prevent piracy", indeed. Also, DLC, as "Downloadable Content", was initally born in F2P mobile games, afak. DLC doesn't necessarly mean what we know today, it can also be booster packs, life potions, and all types of

It is still resource cut, though. If you had to make some resource cut because you're lacking budget for your next titles, and had to chose between : 1) staff of an unkown IP, 2) experienced devs from a worlwide success (that you certainly want to keep close for a sequel), which one would you chose ?

Let's not hide our head in the sand : F2P (and by extension DLCs) are indeed the new form of DRM. Historically, the illusion of "not having to pay" did appear when people started to pirate more and more mobile games "because they wouldn't want to pay for such a small game", and it's not a coincidence. That was absolutely fantastic, Ethan. As an indie dev myself, I wholeheartedly thank you for this article. Pragmatism, facts, no hush-hush behaviour, and useful suggestions. The result is one of the most mind opening opinion about current state of the industry I ever read.

Still, Oculus Rift 1080p will be an awesome, much cheaper alternative to overhead projectors. Granted, it will miss their conviviality for group sceances.

You got a point :) But isn't a subscription model supposed to cover those costs ?

My best guess is that korean mmos are mainly built for SKorea and Japan, as opposite to US+Europe for western mmos. That means 15 times less audience. Therefore far less pressure on making it run on lower end machines.

Sounds good :) But won't there be huge lags with distant server + VPN ?

With a bit of searching, I found a name : Croove. He's the Audio Director.

Same here ... I'm desperately trying to find myself a new "mmo home" since years ... well, since the end of Burning Crusade really.

Will all this combine to actually make the game worth playing? Who knows. It's not out in Korea until later this year, with a Western release not planned until, wait for it, 2015.

The music is fantastic. And the world gorgeous indeed. Action seems punchy enough to keep entertained for a week. Now the question most MMOs fail to ask themselves : will the 1000th fight be as fun and varied as the first ... ? Pretty armors, pretty faces and pretty environments are always good to create some

This argument of "I wouldn't have bought it anyway" is really, really, really old.

hahaha this is getting better and better !
