Man, I have an awesome rant about how presumably straight male gamers’ acclimation to the notion of killing 79,012 dudes and rescuing singular defenseless objectified women impacts the masculine identity when it is isolated from social systems that would seek to challenge it.

Eww. So disgusting. “If it’s news, we publish it.” But it’s not news, though. It’s not news that a guy who works for Conde Nast went to a male hooker. The part that’s news is the part about how Gawker Media helped an escort blackmail his client. I don’t know if what Gawker did is technically illegal; I sure hope so.

Whooaaaaa, that’s ten kinds of terrible. Usually I am okay with it because they will have a defensible reason, like it’s a Republican congressman proposing anti-gay measures, that kind of thing. So what they’re really outing is the hypocrisy of a public figure. That does not bother me one bit.

Hooo boy! Yeah, sure— as soon as a cop tells me I’m about to be set free with a warning, the first thing *I* do is kick ‘em! Yep! What utter bollocks.

Cops lie to protect their own asses. In Minneapolis a few years (Jan 2003) back, cops picked up a homeless Native American guy in downtown. They brought him to Little Earth apartments (a primarily Native/1st Nations housing area) and pissed on his head. His HEAD. They then said he pissed on his own head, while passed

There was a killer like that in Canada too. He killed prostitutes, mostly First Nations women. HUGE numbers of women were going missing, but because they were prostitutes and Native, no one really investigated. Of course, Native women are still being murdered and going missing, just not by that guy anymore. It’s a

Yeah, I’m a white woman and have been stopped three times. One was for my license plate being out of date (WA), just got off with a warning. Two was for a taillight being out (Maryland), just a warning. Three was for avoiding a traffic light (Virginia), just got a warning.

In my neck of the woods, being charged with assault on an officer is code for the officer beat the shit out of you first, then charged you so that it would look like it was your fault. I’m guessing this is a similar scenario.

Now playing

That’s why it’s very important that the Texas Rangers be allowed to conduct a thorough investigation.”

I’m with you. I’m tired of that meme going around on Facebook that says something like “not all cops are racists just like not all blacks are criminals”. WTF? If you know about this shit going on and you do nothing to stop it, you are complicit, part of the problem, and just as guilty.

Right. Some people can’t get jobs because they have bad credit. And here is this guy that is basically a terrorist that was elected to be a sheriff. Effing nuts.

There was a documentary about him on HBO, and they interviewed this black lawyer about the case. Even though she is a college educated, well off woman in a nice house, she told her son to never, ever call the police if something happens. She had a list of phone numbers on the side of the fridge in case someone broke

And even if she did kick the officer, the penalty for kicking an officer is not asphyxiation without a trial.

Even if everything else in this situation appeared legit, an officer telling someone who’s filming an arrest from ~ 75 feet away that they “have to leave” is pretty fucking suspect, borderline illegal.

I think they realized they screwed up when they checked her record and it was squeaky clean. And she knew her rights. I think they were silencing someone who would have gotten them in trouble...but they did it in a very symbolic way, didn’t they?

Well, he’s a nice guy. I’d hate to see his life ruined over a trifling little mistake.

Waller County Sheriff’s Office said she died “from what appears to be self-inflicted asphyxiation,”

She can be heard thanking the guy who was recording her arrest at the end of the video. This was not a woman who was just going to accept this happening to her. Her audacity cost her her life.

Waller County Sheriff’s Office said she died “from what appears to be self-inflicted asphyxiation,” and used the terms “tragic incident.” Her death was later ruled a suicide by hanging,

Yeah, suspicious as fuck. That woman who spent at least a minute and a half yelling at the officer whose knee was on her back doesn’t seem to fit the profile of someone about to kill herself.
