I was actually surprised at how somewhat sensitively rape and bromance were handled in that when Jay mentions the possibility of rape ALL of the other men, even Danny, are horrified he would even think of it. That seemed almost progressive.

Not that it matters either way but I imagined it was more like Morgan Freeman's character incited his father to die needlessly for his own financial gain- the Freeman character too seemed to exude a bit of guilt when he and Ruffalo's character discussed it early in the movie.
