They were saying that the Koenig's worked as technicians on the first line of LMDs and that their skills were made redundant by Radcliffes success… not that they *were* first gen LMDs themselves (that was the joke, "you thought they were robots?" *cue laughter*… because everyone has been expecting them to be robots…
