I'm in TX and a friend and I were just saying that only 21 years ago-which isn't that long-we had a female, Democratic governor. You can't tell me that TX has changed that much in 21 years but I guess I'm out of touch...

I left in 1985 to go to school and only get back to visit my sister. My parents are in Sugar Land so you see more golf outfits than anything.

I'd be more shocked to see a guy wearing a cowboy hat and a belt buckle in Houston, to be honest!

I don't even think they really believe in Christianity as much as they do money, winning elections and the free market system. And hating Obama.

Incredibly diverse but the middle powers-that-be can still be cuckoo.

I was at a Houston hospital, waiting for my sister to get out of surgery and started talking to this older man who mentioned he worked in oil. I tried to get out of the conversation, thinking we would come to blows about energy policy, etc., but right at the start the man asked if I knew Al Gore and proceeded to tell

I remember when People for the American Way (founded by Norman Lear) was a force to be reckoned with but they don't seem to hold as much clout or power. They aren't necessarily Christian but I pretty much always agree with their stands on issues.

I don't live in Houston but my family does and they love Annise Parker, as do many Houstonians, considering this is her third term. I've heard nothing but good things and even some moderate conservatives seem to like her a lot.

Oops, that's right. Thankfully, haven't thought about that case in years.

No shit; I would never not exercise because I didn't want to mess up my hair and sitting at the salon more than three plus times a week sounds horribly boring. Who does that?!

If you're a little OCD like me, you plan your workouts and shampooing. It doesn't always work but my hair is dry and I don't like to overwash it. Sometimes, I will rinse and put some light conditioner but yeah, I exercise a lot and have to think about this kind of thing.

North Carolina, right? Ugh, so awful.

No but there should be limits, say, 100 yards from a school, no contact with the sister of the victim...

It's like a psychosis.

You may be too young to remember (1994) but Susan Smith drowned her toddler and baby in a lake (she pushed her car in while they were buckled into their car seats) for a boyfriend who said that he didn't want to date a woman with kids. Oh, and blamed it on a black man. Masterpiece Mystery Tangent: the detective poked

I like, "I know you are but what am I" and hope that it pops up soon.

You :: Chris Christie

When people (often politicians) live in an echo chamber, all they hear is, "Oh, yes sir, good idea! You never know, she could spread Ebola if she isn't placed in a tent" and often make no attempt to learn more about the topic at hand.

Have y'all ever heard of really bad behavior by a really beloved athlete and struggled with publishing it?

Lone Star is two words. Sorry.
