The Exorcist. The music alone...

Hi, I just wanted to check in to let you know that an internet stranger is thinking of you today; I know every anniversary is hard but hope you find some measure of peace on such a tough day.

Oh, goodness—you needn't apologize. I can't begin to imagine the pain and anguish you have gone through. Sending strength for tomorrow.

I absolutely agree and should have made it clear in my first comment. And I'm so sorry about your son.

I should have made clear that I feel that they are the lowest of the low; I was just trying to explain why some people might out hope into them.

Well, if you've lost a loved one, all you want is to talk to them one more time. My best friend lost her son to leukemia a year ago and she told me a few weeks ago that she doesn't care if she dies because she just wants to find him and be with him. It's a strong pull and anyone who gives hope that contact can be made

Born and raised in Houston, left in 1985. The diversity is astonishing and is one of huge best things about the city.

Does Arlington call itself ATX too? Lame.

Merely anecdotal, but a year or two ago, I was at the Travis County courthouse (Austin) for jury duty. There was a line of gay and lesbian couples waiting outside a courtroom to adopt their children and the security guards and staffers were taking pictures, congratulating them and creating a positive, exciting, warm

I posted this above but will post it here, too: in Austin, LGBT residents are considered a protected class when it comes to housing rights and discrimination. A small step to some but more than just health insurance.

And in Austin, LGBT residents are a protected class when it comes to housing discrimination. Sounds minor but it's important.

Just to be clear, I am referring to what I read in the manifesto, not a video. It's disturbing stuff.

Perhaps, but he clearly indicates anxiety after the police visit him which tells me that he knew it was wrong-at least in the societal sense. And he took down his videos because he didn't want to get caught.

(Phew: no UT-Austin.)

I beg you all to watch Roots; I was ten years old when it came out and it felt like the entire country was watching together. I don't know if it was his first role but LeVar Burton was glorious as Kunta Kinte. I am unsure as to how well the miniseries has held up over the decades but it was a massive cultural event at

I think the Lost Generation are the young adults post-WWI, right? Are they the parentsof or older siblings to the Greatest?

But the Boomers are in between the "greatest" and Gen X. They should be the middle child.

Sounds like your cohort are the middle children...not to be insulting, just agreeing that you don't really fit in either gen.

hmmm. I was born in 1966 so I'm an early Gen X and to me, our quintessential movies are 16 Candles, Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire. Reality Bites is late-late Gen X. I could still relate to it but some of that is because it was written by a classmate's sister and was shot in Houston. Anyway, it's funny that we are

We'll always have Duran Duran...
