I'm not defending what they did and I guess the key word is "unauthorized" but when we waited outside the Erwin Center to wave to Paul McCartney (I'm a nerd...he was awesome), he had many Austin PD motorcycle cops escorting him. Yes, he's a Beatle but is it a case of being off-duty vs. not? They were riding official

And partying with your DAD in a nightclub isn't normal. That's the part that gets me.

I'm so sorry.

Gosh-really?

The BEST. Everyone flips out over Krispy Kremes but I was underwhelmed after growing up in Houston.

Have you ever had Shipley's? A police escort is completely appropriate for their hot glazed.

I feel compelled to straighten this out yet again: Don't Mess with Texas was an anti-litter campaign. And a very successful one, too.

Dallas has ice storms far more often than Austin or Houston so they seriously need to get it together.

Mopac has been a nightmare for 24 hours...make that 24 years.

God, no lie. I know of one person in town who drives one: father of a fellow student at my son's school. Dark blue or dark grey, if I remember correctly. We are right by Zilker Park and I don't have to leave until 4 PM today, thankfully.

This is what I've been posting. It happened quickly and at a bad time.

And the ice started kicking in during rush hour last night-more people on the roads = more accidents.

And tailgate-happy, which is nuts even on a good day.

Did he hit anyone or was he just driving like a jerk? We went to the Globetrotters last night and the railings around the Erwin Center were frozen over by 9 PM. Thanksfully, they had put salt all over the outdoor concourses and steps. My car was covered in a sheet of ice but people were still speeding down 15th like

I live about a mile from downtown Austin where it was actually in the low 20s and there are a lot of bridges here and they and many roads iced over before 9 PM last night and just got worse. No, it didn't really snow but iced roads are worse. (And believe it or not, many of us do know how to drive in this weather.)

I do, too. I volunteered on her 1994 campaign and when she walked in one day, the room lit up with her energy and charisma. I've seen that in one other person: Bill Clinton.

Good for him; it's hard enough to get a degree without that kind of challenge.

Houston as a city as been blue for a long time and had a female mayor (and an African American mayor, too) in the 80s and 90s. Still, it becoming even more blue as the years pass. We just need to get those suburbs turning blue, too!

This has nothing to do with this article but Wendy Davis and I ran past each other last weekend on the Austin Hike and Bike Trail. I was so excited! Now I just need to run into Robert Plant.

I've never heard that phrase before and now it is my favorite.
