Anybody got any ideas on the meaning of this?

I think it’s great he got called out, definitely needs to happen more.

“There are two Chicagos, as you know. There’s one Chicago that’s incredible, luxurious and all — and safe. There’s another Chicago that’s worse than almost any of the places in the Middle East that we talk, and that you talk about, every night on the newscasts. So, we’re going to do a lot of work on the inner cities.”

I wanted it to be satisfying to watch, but it made me physically uncomfortable, it was mortifying. His bravado is paper thin.

It was...something. It was Trump, completely unfiltered,  it was total stream of consciousness. Which means of course that it was terrifying. Also terrifying is that this is Trump in his element, he was loving it. He relishes being the embattled underdog, fighting against his enemies (most especially the press). And

There’s no such thing as valid criticism from a white perspective on this issue.

I still check every week, at least hoping someone would be customer-friendly enough to let us know WHERE THE FUCK IT WENT. Alas, no.

I want Midweek Madness back :(

What I mean by a catch-22 is that when this line of thinking is taken to the extreme, there is no circumstance where white women can have a valid criticism when talking about this stuff. Anything you say is automatically invalid because you’re white and this automatically means you are angry or hurt of threatened or

This idea that white women are supposed to “organize their people” is baffling. “My people” were all marching, they support BLM and immigrant’s rights, they have nothing in common with people on the other side of the divide.

yes! Also I’ve had “Chickamauga”running through my head for days.

Enlighten me oh aggreived white woman, what aspect of black womens’/peoples’ argument for civil rights can a white woman disagree with that is valid and worthy of our respect? What “dissenting thought” to anti-white supremacy is their that is not worthy of derision? Honestly, I’d like to know.

I’m not triggered, uncomfortable, anger or hurt by this post or Kara’s post.I accept that I’m part of the white power structure in America and grew up with racial biases.

“hopping & bobbing all the way”...... he is just so fucking weird. Like the thing that was in an article this week, that when he’s in NYC, he can go days without leaving his building and inhaling fresh air. WHAT? I don’t know close he is to going full Howard Hughes but he’s definitely got those tendencies.

MTM was my profile pic here long before yesterday. I was 7 when the MTM show started but it still had a major impact on me. Of everything I saw on TV as a kid, MTM was a vision of a life for my adult self that was aspirational. I wanted her apartment, her wardrobe, her autonomy, her friends, her career, her boyfriends

If we don’t have these purity tests to rectify every micro-aggression in order to use the word “unify”, how will we possibly keep ourselves from making any progress?

This march opened up an umbrella for disparate people and groups to unite under for a day and I think it was a resounding and astonishing success. But built into the premise f the march was that it wasn’t a single issue event. Most people there have an issue or two they are especially passionate about. Gun control,

I read her entire piece and she definitely ran into some people who were insensitive and rude. That said, there are two phrases that, when used, cause me to tune out. “Politically correct” and “white fragility”. Her expectations of how well an event of that size could serve each interest is unrealistic and myopic.
