Yeah, my bad. For some reason I thought they did not have the rights to the Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit (probably because I assumed that if they did that’s what they would’ve adapted). It’s still a weird slice of the pie but it really only becomes complicated due to the specific era in which their show takes place.

Due to the complicated nature of what rights Amazon has in regards to Rings of Power, I’m actually fairly sure they don’t have the rights to Sam’s daughter. I don’t say this to refute your comment; I just say this to call out how bizarrely narrow Amazon’s rights are for this show.

Worth noting, the Elanor in his book isn’t just a different Elanor from the one in Amazon’s show; it’s also a character expressly created by Tolkien, mentioned by name in Appendix B. She can’t possibly have been infringed by Amazon and the Tolkien Estate when they owned her to begin with. FFS she even appears at the

Eh, it depends on a variety of factors.

I don’t think fanfic is ever considered a protected work? Like... ever?

I just played through this section last night and somehow missed a lot of this. So there are two chainsaw guys now? And they can chop down supports to make a new ramp to the upper level? Wild!

Funny enough, normal mode is designed for people who never played the original RE 4, with the difficulty just after being meant for people who played the original RE 4.

If it makes you feel any better, they made a few changes to up the difficulty on this version of the village fight. A couple different places that were originally relatively safe in the old version have been fudged with, so now there’s a couple enemies in a house that used to be empty, that same house has a window in

I’ve beaten every version except the HD remaster and even I have to admit the “Normal” mode seems slightly dialed up (more enemies, less ammo, etc.) so it’s not just you. The worst thing you can do is pick a corner and take potshots unless you’re good at capping knees and using melee... you’re better off constantly

It’s on a timer, but I think in the Remake it also registers kills. There is also a trick you can do to end the fight early but I won’t spoil it.

Isn’t this whole thing just on a timer? Like, I never played RE4 originally because I was too young and I’m not into horror games in general, but I thought the whole point of this section of the game, both original and remake, was to make you feel overwhelmed and powerless until the timer ends.

My big unpopular Dragon Age character opinion: Varric is not that interesting. Bioware seems to really think he’s super interesting, but he’s kinda lame.

“The MCU of fantasy books” is such a perfect description!  And I’m saying that as a general fan!

I like Sanderson’s books, they’re definitely popular because they’re accessible and competently delivered as opposed to dazzling the reader with prose but there’s no shame in being the MCU of fantasy books.

I award you one bloop.

I don’t really understand the anti-Joel aspect that people have (though didn’t play the game):

1) what certainty do we have that the Fireflies would be able to extract ‘the cure’ from Ellie successfully? What certainty do we have that ‘the cure’ would even work as intended if successfully extracted? Yes, Joel

Will they fix this? The answer may surprise you!

Cool, now fix the algorithm so people don't have to put stupid clickbaity titles in order to show up in more feeds.

I watched all of Tim Rogers’ six hour video about the first game. You’d think they’d do me the courtesy of releasing that one. I guess the world doesn’t actually revolve around me. Still rude.

Kelly Clarkson has a talk show?
