I might have figured out a cheap way to fix the AC, but getting at the power steering required taking pretty much the whole car apart and I was not up for that. 

Some dealers will try that crap but it's totally possible to get out the door for a lot less than that.

That's a fair point. But personally I'd rather have the better fuel economy vs the extra 20 hp.

In terms of size and power the new car is nearly identical, but in other ways it's a much better car, e.g., fuel economy.

I keep reading about rumors that the 1.5 turbo Honda engines are failing but when I research it I can't verify what's really going on with that.

You make a good point, but on the other hand consider my history: I had an old Acura that needed like $2K worth of work (power steering and AC.) I figured $2K was a lot cheaper than a new car so I spent the money. Then not long after that the car gets totaled in an accident. I kind of felt like I had just “lost” that…

I have three questions:

“the high inventory is a “temporary side effect of the predictive analytics system”” Isn’t the whole point of predictive analytics is to prevent excess inventory (and other inventory problems)?  

I bought my girlfriend a Lexus. It’s 20 years old and has 200K on it but it still looks and runs great. She’s very happy with it.
