Yeah the recreation wasn't perfect but the flaws didn't really bother me. Tarkin was so bad-ass.

That's fair enough but it really didn't bother me. I enjoyed the scenes with "him" inspite of them not being perfect. Maybe I'm imune to the uncanny valley or maybe I'm a total whore for Grand Moff Tarkin.

That was intentional. The eye movement of a high ranking Imperial officer would necessarily be different from that of a vampire hunter or Frankenstein.

It was fun as hell and pulpy and violent and sex filled, yet it managed to raise real philosophical issues and actually make me think about them.

As someone who hasn’t read the books all I can say is that I found that whole dynamic you describe to be entertaining as all hell.

Altered Carbon made me realize that a show with bad actors can be entertaining as fuck.  Seriously, it’s the best show I’ve ever seen with a cast that bad.  

Hot take: CGI Peter Cushing ruled.
