The guy was so emboldened by how much he’d gotten away with that he had the audacity to run for office and not even resign when he was caught in lies. Consequently, with all the attention suddenly on him and every single transaction that was even slightly suspicious from his past, this was inevitable. Truly a “fuck

The only thing that shocks me about all this is how long it took for this to happen.

I’m assuming this guy found himself in love with a toxic narcissist, and lacked the tools to identify it. The course of their marriage was probably a long, agonizing series of pushes and pulls on his psyche. She probably lovebombed him the night of the murder, and, desperate for equilibrium, he thought her excitement

No one ever wants to truly accept their abuser wife/husband and father/mother of their children plans to kill them. These people have the key to your psyche and can effectively gaslight you into thinking you are the crazy, paranoid one. Abusers can be so effective, the victim is protective and apologetic to them even

It’s incredibly chilling that the judge advised the jurors not to identify themselves. Implicit acknowledgement that Trump’s supporters are deranged and armed, and there’s a much greater than zero chance that these jurors could be targeted by those nutjobs.

The thing I don’t get is, there’s nothing there that sounds like Fox would actually give a shit about. It’s all about the same kind of stuff they say on air, just with one or two more swear words. Hell, Trump basically said the same creepy shit and they still think he’s President Jesus.

Fox doesn’t care what kind of vile sexist or racist shit Carlson says. That’s the brand. As long as it toes the fascist line. They fired him as part of the settlement deal otherwise Dominion would have forced on air apologies.

Yea that is my guess. I dont think it was anything “offensive”. Part of me thinks thats a PR move to make Fox look like they have some sort of moral line you can’t cross but I am not buying it. He bad mouthed the money.

I’m willing to bet there were comments about the Murdochs as well.

The craven overturning of Roe, upsetting 50+ years of legal precedent, pretty much was the final nail in the coffin for this SCOTUS as far as legitimacy is concerned.

Cry about it. And to be clear, the Supreme Court is on a dangerous, relentless campaign to de-legitimize the Supreme Court.

Also the elective surgery was apparently to correct a sunken chest, so he basically got breast augmentation to look more masculine, which is a form of gender affirming care he so vehemently opposes for others.

Who could have guessed that a dude who made a whole career out of complaining about women would make a crappy husband

Funny how when you pay a nanny/daycare and domestic cleaner to do it it’s suddenly a job, but if you’re doing it for free it’s no longer work.

California, like Texas, is a community property state. In general, what that means is that property acquired *during the marriage* is split evenly upon divorce, with some exceptions. So if you earn or inherit a lot before you get married, that’s typically going to count as your separate property, and will not be split

Thanks. I get why people have a reflexively negative reaction to the idea we wouldn’t put people in prison even when we know they did something bad that harmed people. But I do wish more people would ask what exactly it is they think society gains from that outcome.

A one-way ticket to a “friend’s wedding”? Yeah, bullshit.

I dunno, make her give restitution to the victims. Not every person who has defrauded people (or done even worse shit like rape and murder) is in prison. What is the purpose you think is served by imprisoning her, or anyone? What is the benefit that justifies the harm that is done, including innocent people and

She seems like an unpleasant person who engaged in shitty fraudulent behavior that not only ripped off investors but gave people false information about their health. She sucks. But ripping parents away from their children is one of the many ways that our carceral state and addiction to mass incarceration causes
