It’s insane that he is out on bail. I’m a public defender in California and routinely have held clients held without bail for even possession of a firearm. The judges here, while they do flagrantly ignore what they are supposed to do under the law, are at least smart enough to do it consistently and also deny bail…

I’m a defense attorney and the idea of trying to make a 19 defendant, 98 page indictment case go to trial within 6 months is laughably absurd. But ok girl good luck!

There are different charges in California (including child abuse/endangerment resulting in death) that could apply, with much lower prison sentences (max for that one is 6 years) that can discourage risky parental behavior without making them face murder charges.
