Hot take: Justice League’s Batman is my favorite iteration of live-action Batman (outside of maybe Adam West and 89!Keaton). Part of it is that he’s not a Bat God in the movie. He’s hopelessly outclassed by everyone else in the movie and he knows it and is struggling to come to terms with it. Part of it is his guilt…
SURPRIIIIIIIIIIIISE SURPRIIIIIIIIIIISE.
They aren’t employees no matter how bad you want them to be and what laws you pass. They get to choose their own hours and whether they even want to drive certain passengers. Name one employee that has that kind of freedom.
Goddammit, men (and others) who are good artists, stop being abusive dickheads so we can just enjoy your work!
I’m... OK with this. I don’t HATE Bat-fleck, I thought the Miller- and Gustin-Flashes meeting each other in the Speed Force during CoIE was funny, and it would be pretty cool if they showed that same interaction from Miller-Flash’s perspective in his run through the Multiverse.
“Management deciding what benefits model works for all of their “drivers” (they can’t even refer to them as employees).”
Riiigggghhhht. Management deciding what benefits model works for all of their “drivers” (they can’t even refer to them as employees).
What, you’re trying to tell me that I don’t have the constitutional right to command a chauffeur in a private car to show up at any place of my choosing, at any time of day or night, WITHIN MINUTES (or else!! you better be ready for nasty review, mister!) and whisk me away to the nearest KFC to buy a drunken munchie,…
And, who knows? Maybe it’s not actually “a business” to sell us $20 cab rides for $7.50?
Because government deciding what’s best for Uber and Lyft drivers (as well as every other freelancer) is a better alternative. Come on, man!
He was. He then got the role and refused to really do proper training or nutrition for it during COVID19 lockdown in London, where he refused to do even home workouts. At the time he said he didn’t want to promote “unrealistic body expectations” for men. That was around April. Then in June the studio started doing the…
The last thing I want is a repeat of Finn Jones’ Iron Fist. Coming into an MCU production not shredded like machaca is heresy. The fact that his martial arts were as about as convincing as me in a dress is even worse. When the articles about Pattinson not working out during shutdown hit the feeds, I gave up on the…
Lyft, Uber, etc have always hired and treated drivers as contractors- and, if you talk to anyone who’s an expert on what that means, from a legal/taxation standpoint, it’s pretty obvious that they do, indeed, function as contractors and are not legally entitled to the benefits one would reasonably expect an actual…
his lackadaisical approach to training over the last few months.
And are not even close to profitable
Unfortunately, most people don’t care about “workers rights” once it hits their wallet.
I get it. I don’t blame them. They are a for profit company that wants to make money, which they are entitled to try to do. They can’t make money if drivers are classified as employees. Unless they drastically raise rates, which riders won’t be happy with. This was likely the least costly approach to take.
I get the frustration of not having Lyft and yes, that leaves people with one fewer option for getting around, and yes, they are being particularly pig-headed about it, but let’s not pretend that anyone has any entitlement to a ride-sharing service that didn’t even exist a few years ago.
